This application is a shopping buddy that uses a community database of products, i.e. one in which the quality of the data it contains depends on the good judgment of the users to enter good and valid information at the time of describing a new item, stimulating in this way collaborative comsumption.
In order to use the products database, the user must supply an e-mail address to which he(she) has access to and where the application will send an activation message to follow. User must have Internet access in his(her) mobile device to use this database.
User is also required to allow access to his(her) current location at the store he(she) is buying, in order to provide other users with pricing information that is geo-located.
What does it do ?....
- Keeps track at all times of the total amount spent, all items bought and the remaining budget.
- Scans products barcodes, and if it has already been stored in the database the application will bring back its name and last price.
- You can set a budget for your shopping trip.
- At any moment of your shopping trip you can just uncheck an item and see how much less you will spend.
- Function to search for price of a scanned item shows a map with markers which contain stores with price and date in configured radius of kilometers.
- Cart contents are stored in an Old Buys local file when a new shopping trip is triggered. Later, you can review those old buys and you can select one of them and make it the current one, in this way generating a buying list.
- Special function allows the user to search for deals in country/region, and see them. Application only checks for availability of this content for the location the user is when the user makes changes to the Settings, and enables/disables this menu option accordingly.
- All dates in ISO format, i.e. YYYY-MM-DD.
- Multi-lingual user interface, currently in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
